Plant the Pavement! 2014
We are proud to be the first Growing Power Regional Outreach Center to also be offering an abbreviated Youth Version of Plant the Pavement! through our partnership with Longview School in Raleigh. Students from throughout the region can apply to attend this single-day workshop on Friday, May 2. We welcome any high-school age class or other organized student group who is interested in learning more about sustainable agriculture, urban farming, or social justice.
If you or someone you know works with youth and would like to attend, please contact Hannah Ross at hannah@foodshuttle.org or (919) 880-8506 to request application materials.
Space is VERY limited at the youth workshops, so please get your applications in as soon as possible for the best chance to reserve a spot.
Hands-on break-out sessions will include:
Growing food in a hoop house
Year-round production of microgreens
Aquaponics
Mushroom production
Compost & Vermiculture
There is NO COST to youth participants for this event at Longview School. We will provide a healthy breakfast and lunch. Teachers or other organizers are responsible for transportation to the event and for providing chaperones.
